Organized in collaboration with Asociación Ambiente y Sociedad     The RRI Latin America Dialogue on extractive industries, communities, and territorial rights is intended to offer a space to constructively evaluate the nature of the relationship between these themes and to identify innovative ways for civil society, the private sector, NGOs, and governments to discuss common approaches for addressing the risks and opportunities that the extractive industry presents to the wellbeing of sustainability of forests and forest dwellers.   The Dialogue addressed the following themes: the boom in the extractive industries in Latin America: trends, opportunities and challenges; the environmental, economic and social potential of mining; links between extractive industries and climate change, forest and collective rights policies; mechanisms for the promotion of forest rights; and new foci and lessons learned to promote positive changes.     The event took place on March 21 and 22.
