As part of COP30, the Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI) invites journalists to a press conference presenting the main findings of its new study on the inclusion of the territorial rights of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and Afro-descendant Peoples in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

This press briefing will highlight how the recognition and protection of collective territories are proven strategies for climate change mitigation and adaptation—essential to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. Experts and territorial leaders will share their experiences on integrating these rights into national climate policies—including Brazil’s “Indigenous NDC”—and discuss next steps toward rights-based NDCs in the lead-up to COP30.
