National Workshop on Land and Forest Reforms in Cameroon

Objective : Present a preliminary proposal from civil society for land reform" taking into account the need to recognize and protect communities’ rights" in the context of increasing land and mining concession development.
Participants: Traditional leaders" community representatives" national and local NGOs" government representatives" elected officials" researchers and journalists.
Expected outcomes: As a result of the workshop" the debate on land reform is well framed" and a discussion on the issue is launched in Cameroon. Participants will have a better understanding of the constraints to the recognition and protection of communities’ property rights. A preliminary reflection and feedback from the administration on the proposal will orient future work on this issue.
