Subregional Workshop on the Sangha Trinational
Fecha: 08/03/2010 - 08/04/2010
Lugar: Central African Republic
Ciudad: Bayanga
País: Central African Republic
Indigenous rights to access land and resources are largely disregarded or unknown by national and regional government actors working in the Congo Basin's trans boundary Sangha Tri National area. While the FAO and COMIFAC have drafted guidelines for ensuring local and indigenous participation in Central African forest management" these guidelines have not been adopted by local decision makers and civil society actors charged with guiding local and indigenous participation in forest management.
This workshop will create a space for credible and frank discussion of information and experiences from all participants" ranging from indigenous representatives to NGO actors to local civil society. This will contribute to the understanding and implementation of subregional guidelines for indigenous peoples and NGO participation in Central African forest management" and more general relationship between local communities" indigenous peoples" and national and regional decision-making processes in participatory forest resource management.
