The RRI Dialogues on Forests, Governance and Climate Change are designed to foster critical reflection and learning on forest governance, the rights of forest communities and Indigenous Peoples, and forest tenure in the context of global action to combat climate change. Since July 2009, they have been held in London and Washington D.C., with regionally-focused events in Addis Ababa, San Salvador and Kathmandu.   The ninth Dialogue in this series is co-organized with RRI Partners Forest Peoples Programme, Forest Trends, and Tebtebba and will bring together decision makers and civil society organizations on critical issues of the role of forests in the climate change agenda. Sessions will focus on taking stock of new developments on rights and REDD+ at COP-16 in Cancun, the crucial role of forest restoration and reforestation for both climate mitigation and adaptation, and formulating more coherent safeguards and recourse mechanisms for REDD+ programs.
