The Africa Regional Dialogue aims to build on the successful experience of past events to foster the open and frank exchange of ideas and developments amongst regional decision-makers and civil society on the status of the climate change debate within Africa and its implications for rights, tenure and governance in the region. With UNFCCC negotiations in a state of limbo and multi-lateral initiatives like the Oslo Forests and Climate meeting setting precedents, action on REDD+ is moving to the regional and national levels with more speed than ever. At the same time, other regional processes are underway to develop or strengthen African national land policies to take into account the continent’s land legacy including the role of customary land tenure systems and rights. The African Regional Dialogue was proposed in response to clear demand from development practitioners, policy makers, and advocates for a space to engage on the global climate discussions and their implications for African forests and communities.- More on the RRI Dialogues on Forests, Governance and Climate Change
