This conference brought together key people to analyze the risks" opportunities" and constraints that carbon financing presents for Asia-Pacific’s forest-dependent people. The Forum concluded that local people hold the key to healthy forests" and if forest carbon-financing schemes are to succeed they must actively engage and benefit these crucial stakeholders.

Below is the just-released "Call for Action"" which clearly outlines important priorities for national governments" international organizations" civil society" and the private sector to undertake to ensure local people are part of the solution.

More from the Forum" including speech transcripts" presentations" and media coverage can be accessed at www.recoftc.org.
