The workshop was a success, as participants engaged in active dialogue and agreed to future action. The panel brought together two activists, Lorraine Kakaza (from South Africa hosted through this SRM) and Mohamed Ewangaye Didane (Niger), with the UN Special Rapporteur for Environment and Human Rights, and others. They provided critical perspectives linking their struggles against destructive development to global processes of resource extraction, the loss of land and resource rights of local communities.
