Details:

The joint fact-finding mission with Liberia Land Authority (LLA) and the CSO Working Group on Land was conducted by consulting with district officials, country officials, illicit miners, traditional leaders, and communities from River Gee and Maryland communities. A report with recommendations was then produced and submitted to Senate and House chairs on land which led to government action in dispatching a task force to remove illicit miners across the two counties.

Additionally, the joint mission improved the relationship between LLA and the CSO Working Group on Land, allowing for further future collaboration regarding land conflict and Land Rights Act regulations. The activities have also created a precedent for a monitoring and intervention strategy for customary land based on field recommendations.
