The Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI) announces the release of 2 new global analyses of tenure reform (and impacts) since the 1992 UN Conference on Sustainable Development.

What Rights? A Comparative Analysis of Developing Countries' National Legislation on Community and Indigenous People's Forest Tenure Rights – This report presents an unprecedented review of the laws recognizing Indigenous Peoples' and communities' tenure rights in 27 developing countries.

Respecting Rights” Delivering Development: Forest Tenure Reform Since Rio 1992 – This report surveys the changes to forest tenure over the past 20 years” and the role of Indigenous Peoples and communities in delivering sustainable development.  (Also available in French” Spanish” and Portuguese.)

These timely studies are being released just before the world comes together at the Rio+20 Conference on June 20-22″ and include recommendations to build on the last twenty years of progress and complete the work necessary to attain truly fair and sustainable development.
