TENFOREST hosted a training workshop that provided civil society organizations in Burkina Faso with knowledge and tools to advocate for secure community land tenure in the REDD+ process. As the first and only Sahel country to be accepted into the UN REDD+ program, Burkino Faso’s rural populations lack adequate information to participate effectively in this process, despite the effects it could have on their communities and resources. The workshop’s participants gained a better understanding of REDD+ safeguards at the international level and learned about the instruments available to promote respect for community and women’s land rights in the process.
