Leaders from 10 different countries issued recommendations for incorporating the viewpoints of women in policy decisions related to land rights, climate change, and sustainable economic development in Latin America at an event in Bogota in August. One of the main recommendations was for governments across Latin America to ensure women’s “legal security and access to land and territory, as a key factor for sustainable development and addressing climate change initiatives.” To achieve this, participants advised governments to promote actions that strengthen and empower women and local communities to manage and protect their land.
