At UNFCCC COP30, taking place in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21, 2025, the Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI) will champion the message that recognizing and funding the leadership of Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant Peoples, and local communities—especially women and youth—is essential to achieving global climate goals.
As governments, donors, and the private sector gather in the heart of the Amazon, RRI will position rights-based climate action as both the moral imperative and the most effective solution for lasting mitigation, biodiversity protection, and equity.
Across all themes, RRI’s engagements will showcase the power of rights-based conservation, community-led finance (CLARIFI), and intergenerational leadership as pillars of effective climate solutions. Through evidence, storytelling, and global media outreach, RRI will ensure that the world’s attention remains on those who protect the planet every day: Earth’s defenders.
