FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE (October 9, 2025)—The Government of Sierra Leone, in collaboration with the African Land Institution Network (ALIN), the Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI), and the African Land Policy Centre (ALPC), is proud to announce the upcoming ALIN International Conference, scheduled to take place from 14th to 16th October 2025 at the Bintumani Conference Centre in Freetown.

This high-level gathering will convene over 100 delegates from across Africa and other parts of the globe, including land governance experts, policymakers, civil society leaders, and development partners, to advance inclusive land reform and institutional transformation across the continent.

The theme for the 5th Regional Conference is “Strengthening Land Institutions for Inclusive Growth and Resilience.”

The conference will spotlight Africa’s urgent need for robust, transparent, and people-centered land institutions. It will provide a platform for sharing innovations, policy solutions, and community-driven approaches to land governance—especially those that empower women, youth, and Indigenous communities.

Key highlights of the three-day conference will include: Plenary and Technical panels on customary land rights, climate resilience, and institutional reform.

The 5th Regional Conference is hosted by the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning, the Rights and Resources Initiative, and the Sierra Leone Land Alliance.

According to Dr. Turad Senesie, Minister of Lands, Housing and Country Planning, “this conference is a defining moment for Africa’s land institutions. Sierra Leone is proud to host a dialogue that places communities at the heart of land governance.”
