Through the SRM, RRI advocacy efforts led to important inclusions in a Senate Bill in the Philippines Congress. The provisions included Indigenous identity, ancestral domain, and the requirement of Indigenous Peoples’ free, prior, and informed consent before activities affecting their lands can take place. In the Philippines House of Representatives, advocacy teams briefed and secured the support of at least 10 Congressmen.
The mapping process for over 300,000 ha. claimed by the Lumads was also completed as a result of the funding from the SRM. Additional RRI funds were used to hold a meeting in Mindanao on Federalism and Regional Autonomy and its impact on the Lumad Communities.
