This paper draws on existing literature to explore the gendered elements of community-based forest enterprises (CFEs), focusing specifically on the role of women. It identifies the overarching challenges that prevent women from realizing full participation in and economic benefit from CFEs, and argues that they can overcome these challenges, in part by organizing into networks and associations.
