The Eleventh RRI Dialogue on Forests” Governance and Climate Change: Status and Role of Public and Private Finance to Reduce Forest Loss and Degradation will begin at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre” London” United Kingdom. The event is organized by The Forest Peoples Programme (FPP)” Forest Trends and Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI).

 

The morning session will be chaired by Frances Seymour” Director General of CIFOR. During this session the participants will examine financing for forests and climate in the context of global crises. Session two will be chaired by Jan McAlpine” Director of United Nations Forum on Forests. This session will focus on perspectives from communities” indigenous peoples and projects on how financing reaches the ground level in these activities. The evening session will look at new approaches and future steps in reducing emissions and promoting livelihoods. This session will be chaired by Peter Riggs” Program Officer of the Ford Foundation.

 

The organizers expect that this event will contribute to more informed and decisive negotiations on finance during the UNFCCC COP 17 in Durban” South Africa end of this year.
