The historic US$1.7 billion Pledge made at the UNFCCC CoP26 in Glasgow by governments and donors in support of Indigenous Peoples’ and local communities’ collective and territorial rights is a step in the right direction. However, if it intends to repair the historical gap in direct funding awarded to IPs and LCs, it must also address the rights of Indigenous, Afro-descendent and local community women and girls’ who’s direct access to funding has been severely limited.
