The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) hosted a training workshop on advocacy and negotiations for extended forest rights in Cameroon. Community leaders and NGO staff gathered to build their capacity to advocate in favor of their rights, which they used to develop road maps for effective advocacy and negotiation for statutory recognition of community rights in sustainable forest management. The workshop equipped participants with strategic knowledge as well as practical skills to influence ongoing legal reforms, and acquired specific knowledge of current laws and how to address them. Participants developed complementary skills to properly plan collective action geared toward pro-poor forest policy.
