Speakers from 11 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe spoke of their countries? experiences resolving state, private and community ownership over land and forests. During the workshop, Mme. Souvanpheng Boupphanouvong of the National Assembly announced the government?s intention to undergo a nationwide formal process of large- scale land reform, and prioritized effectiveness of land policy implementation and the needs for increased local land management, given that access to land for rural households is fundamental to sustained poverty alleviation.
