At the 11th RRI Dialogue on Forests, Governance and Climate Change, focusing on the ?Status and Role of Public and Private Finance to Reduce Forest Loss and Degradation,? UK Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change Gregory Barker declared that securing fair land tenure must be the foundation of REDD, not only for ethical reasons, but because it is crucial in attracting private sector investment. The event, co-organized by Forest Peoples Programme and Forest Trends, brought together representatives from community organizations, governments, donor agencies, research and development organizations, and private sector industry and investors to London on October 12th.
