In Nicaragua, Instituto de Investigaci?n y Desarrollo NITLAPAN prepared a training course for indigenous, afro-descendant, and campesino peoples on territorial governance, which included inputs from experts and representatives from academic, indigenous, and development organizations in Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. Participants identified opportunities and strategies for implementing the modules contained in the training course, providing a base for advancing governance capacity building for local forest communities across the region.
