A high-level exchange visit to Mexico was organized for six senior officials from the Government of Lao PDR from October 8-12, who observed how land and forest related policies have been formulated and reviewed and are contributing to positive outcomes for the national economy, local livelihoods and forest quality in Mexico. The exchange visit, co-organized with RECOFTC and hosted by the Government of Mexico, was timed to influence the current revision of land-use policies in LaoPDR. It included a series of briefings in Mexico City with key officials from government agencies focused on forest and land tenure, and was followed by a field visit to the state of Quintana Roo, where a number of ejidos (communal owned/operated land) engaged in a variety of forest management initiatives were visited.
