Participants at the June 18 seminar on ?The Role of Communities in Forest Management in the Altiplano? [highland plateau] in Guatemala analyzed the way in which the forest communities contribute to forest maintenance in the Guatemalan altiplano, and learned about the role municipalities, other governmental institutions, and NGOs can play in confronting pressures on the resource base and forestlands. The seminar was hosted by PERT-FAUSAC (the Faculty of Agronomy) in collaboration with the National Institute of Forests (INAB), HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation and other members of the RRI Latin America Coalition.
