Green Advocates hosted the Liberian Legislative Caucus on a Community Rights and Natural Resources tour, bringing them to communities affected by Sime Darby oil palm operations. The legislators took part in a community town hall meeting on community rights issues with 200 local community participants from at least 30 villages within and surrounding the Sime Darby concession, followed by a field visit. The legislators committed to send a formal communication to the plenary of the legislature to investigate the impact and operations of the concession, and requested a reciprocal visit by forest community representatives to consult on implementation challenges associated with the Community Rights Law and other community rights issues.
