The national-level stakeholders? workshop in Liberia provided a platform for civil society and government participants to share information on ongoing REDD discussions and findings from communities affected by oil palm plantations and relevant forestry regulations. The participants agreed on a clear message to the REDD Technical Working Group and the government requested formal involvement of civil society organizations, including the communities, in the ongoing discussions about REDD. Another key outcome of the October event was the establishment of a civil society taskforce to follow up resolutions of the workshop and the key actions identified. The workshop was organized by the Sustainable Development Institute.
