The Forest Peoples Programme (FPP) met with the UK World Bank Executive Director to raise concerns regarding the newly drafted IFC/World Bank policy on palm oil, and sent an official letter calling for further clarification regarding secure acquisition of local community and indigenous customary land rights and usage, respect for Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), and commitment to responsible long-term development. Subsequently, RRI collaborators in Indonesia met with IFC officials and drafted a detailed commentary responding to the January palm oil policy draft, prompting FPP to further comment and coordinate inputs to Executive Directors in the UK, Netherlands, Germany, and US.
