La Asociaci?n Coordinadora Ind?gena y Campesina de Agroforester?a Comunitaria de Centroam?rica (ACICAFOC), the Asociaci?n Gaia, and RRI organized a workshop to discuss the current conditions of forest communities, analyzing their tenure rights as a bundle of rights, how these rights sustain their livelihoods, and the state of vulnerability of those rights in the face of external pressures such as REDD. The workshop gathered nearly 30 representatives from indigenous and peasant organizations from various forest regions in Mesoamerica. Results from the workshop highlighted that any discussion about REDD should begin by analyzing current livelihood systems, clarifying and strengthening rights at the territorial level, and taking into account more balanced input from civil society and state actors.
