Forest Peoples Programme (FPP) and collaborator Amazon Alliance joined forces at the World Conservation Congress in Barcelona to draw attention to the crucial role of indigenous and forest community rights in addressing climate change and conservation. During the event, community leaders from the Amazon Basin, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Indonesia described increasing pressures on forest lands and limited progress on fulfilling the pledges made during the 2003 Durban Accords. The Congress adopted many of FPP’s proposed resolutions for a rights-based approach to conservation.
