Pressures from petroleum, oil palm expansion and tourism activities were discussed as challenges for community organizations at the regional dialogue coordinated by ACOFOP and PRISMA, in Pet?n, Guatemala. Government representatives and NGOs presented proposals from climate change negotiations and the development of REDD+ strategies at the national level. Community organizations representing the National Alliance of Community Forestry (Guatemala) discussed opportunities for influencing policy, including the emergence of the Mesoamerican Alliance of People and Forests.
