The event has been co-organized by the Rights and Resources Initiative, the National Forestry Commission of Mexico, the US Forest Service and the European Forest Institute.

Objectives of the seminar included:

• Engage the next generation of senior executives from forest agencies and related public agencies in cutting-edge analysis and information for a deeper understanding of global transitions in forest tenure and governance, and markets.
• Better prepare them to lead in a more complex social, political, environmental and market context.
• Promote improved information sharing among these agency leaders through frank and open dialogue in a small group setting.
• Strengthen contributions of forest agencies to addressing land rights, poverty alleviation, governance, conservation, and climate change challenges in their countries.
