African pastoralists manage vast rangelands that are vital for climate mitigation, adaptation, and biodiversity conservation. These landscapes store carbon, regulate water, and sustain millions of people and livestock. Yet pastoralists rarely access climate finance, despite being frontline climate actors with deep Indigenous knowledge. Mobilizing targeted, accessible, and equitable finance is essential to strengthen resilience, maintain ecosystem services, and support sustainable livelihoods.

This event will highlight the critical role of African pastoralists in managing and restoring climate-sensitive rangelands and advocate for increased, accessible, and equitable climate finance to strengthen their adaptive capacities.
