At a gathering of over 300 participants representing different tribal groups” traditional leaders” other traditional forest dwellers” civil society organizations” networks” intellectuals” academics” government representatives and policy makers” issues relating to the implantation of the provisions of the Forest Rights Act were discussed.

The three day workshop was organized by Vasundhara from 1st – 3rd September 2009 in Bhubaneswar” Orissa” India.  It provided a forum for debate and discussion on various provisions of the Act” its scope” operational issues and challenges faced during implementation. The scope of these rights under the Act and the gaps in the implementation process were discussed by the participants from across the state who shared their experiences and progress of implementation in their respective areas.
