A regional workshop on rights and tenure in processes of land acquisition and threats from the palm oil sector, hosted by The Samdhana Institute and coordinated by F orests People’s Program, documented extreme human rights abuses in Cambodia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia and Indonesia. This meeting was part of a coordinated effort to promote sharing between academics, activists and indigenous people from local to international levels in preparation for a regional workshop on human rights implications of palm oil expansion and future opportunities for the RSPO in late November.
