On June 7 in Accra" Ghana" Civic Response and Forest Watch Ghana hosted a workshop which regrouped members of Ghanaian civil society as well as international civil society representatives from Liberia and Cameroon. The objectives of the meeting were as follows:

  • To build relations between Rights and Resources Initiative" Ghanaian civil society organizations" and civil society organizations from other African countries" with a view to further cooperation in promoting community forest rights.

  • To introduce participants to the working of the ITTO and its potential as a lever for strengthening community rights campaigns in Ghana and Africa; and

  • To offer participants a preview of alternative tenure and enterprise models case studies and an opportunity to discuss the content of the Civil Society Advisory Group side event during the Meeting on Operational Modalities of the ITTC.
