SRM funding supported the creation of a study compiling collective tenure information on Baru Island. The study, completed to complement and strengthen the preparation of the community’s legal action, included the reconstruction of the property and cartographic information of the area occupied by the community. The study also analyzed the state of the natural resources essential for community livelihoods. As a result, a well-documented legal action against the National Land Agency (ANT) administrative order was prepared. With additional funding from the SRM, an advocacy strategy through the community’s network of allies in the State and CSOs was implemented. The strategy strengthened integration of groups across the Colombian Caribbean.
