Through SRM funding, this project advanced the implementation of the community forests legal framework by supporting 11 villages in participatory validation of their Simple Management Plan (SMPs). In addition, the initiative helped build capacity on decision-making processes to ensure FPIC and advocate toward the revision of the community forest framework for more coherence with land allocation policies, and to incorporate practices and capacities of Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
