Course on Payment for Environmental Services and REDD for Community Leaders

RRI partner Forest Trends partners with USAID's  Support Unit for the Conservation of the Andean Amazon Initiative (ICAA), the Amazonian Environmental Research Institute (IPAM), the Association for the Conservation of the Amazon (ACCA), and the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law (SPDA) to design and carry out a Course on PES and REDD for Community Leaders in Madre de Dios, Perú. This is the second workshop in a series designed for the MAP region formed by Madre de Dios, Acre (Brazil) and Pando (Bolivia) with the objective of building capacity in local Amazon communities in order to ensure that new markets created for payment for environmental services (PES) and REDD represent a positive impact to local populations and the conservation of biodiversity. Other supporters of the event included the Moore Foundation, the UNDP, the Global Environmental Facility, NORAD, and the World Agroforestry Center, the Woods Hole Research Center, and the Peruvian National Service for Protected Areas.
