Ecosystem Marketplace: 11th RRI Dialogue on Forests, Governance and Climate Change Tomorrow

11 October 2011 | Tomorrow, the Rights and Resources Institute will hold its 11th Dialogue on Forests Governance and Climate Change. It will be co-hosted by Forest Trends and the Forest Peoples Programme.
With public and private partnerships around REDD+ and adaptation continuing to spread, this dialogue will focus on the current state of public and private financial mechanisms. Representatives from the public and private sector will discuss lessons learned from the global forest carbon market, contributing to the vision on how to best deploy financing while maintaining respect for the rights of local people.
The event will be webcast live in three languages: English, Spanish and French. The webcast link will go active tomorrow 12 October at 8:00 GMT (4:00am EDT).

Sessions include "Financing for Forests and Climate in the Context of Global Crises," "How Financing is Reaching the Ground - Perspectives from Communities, Indigenous People's and Projects," and "Looking to Durban and Beyond: New Approaches and Next Steps for Reducing Emissions and Promoting Livelihoods." To prepare for this dialogue, RRI has partnered with Mongabay.com as a way to share viewpoints ahead of the dialogue on 12 October. The viewpoints feature the answers of the Forest Trust Executive Director Scott Poynton and Tebtebba Executive Director Vicky Tauli-Corpuz to three specific questions on private and public finance in the world's forests.
