New Governance and Territory Website for Latin America
The Territory and Governance Initiative is a project of RRI led by HELVETAS Swiss-Intercooperation.
Since April 2009 the Initiative has been developing "Territory Indigenous Governance and Challenges for Community Forest Management" (TIyG) as a part of the RRI Latin America Regional Program.
The purpose of the Initiative is to contribute to strengthening the capacity of local communities and indigenous organizations administer and control their territories, with the following three objectives:
- Understand the different forms or models of regional governance that have been promoted by governments and / or adopted by indigenous organizations to manage and control their territories, and learn more about the problems and challenges that result.
- Identify indigenous territorial organizations and NGOs which work on the specific challenges associated with the need to govern multi-communal spaces and help strengthen the capacities of communities and their leaders.
Contribute to the design and adjustment of both public and internal policies in each country.
