Supporting community rights and tenure security in Nepal

On April 14-17, RRI Partners from FECOFUN, CIFOR, Intercooperation, IUCN, and RECOFTC met in Kathmandu, Nepal, to identify opportunities and activities for further RRI involvement in the region. Participants agreed on the necessity of action to support community rights and tenure in Nepal’s forests. RRI Partners agreed to support an international workshop to follow Nepal’s national workshop on community forestry, as well as the establishment of an Asia policy network comprised of representatives from East and Southeast Asia.

Also in Kathmandu, RRI Partners and collaborators met with the Director-General of Forests of Nepal, and discussed the future of forestry governance, livelihoods, and strategies for building effective institutions.
